A guide that begins with the ground
Tourism Ketchikan is an independent editorial travel guide. We begin with the physical facts that shape a visit: a town pressed between steep Tongass rainforest and the Tongass Narrows, a working waterfront, changing weather, and a road system that asks travelers to make deliberate choices.
Our aim is not to turn Ketchikan into a list of trophies. We organize information so a visitor can understand how places relate, which choices require a reservation or local confirmation, and where a flexible plan is more useful than a rigid timetable.
How we work
- Geography first: routes explain the connection between water, street, slope, and forest.
- Claims with limits: we avoid publishing invented prices, schedules, availability, rankings, or firsthand claims.
- Community context: Indigenous culture and contemporary community life are approached through community-led institutions and credited sources, never as decorative motifs.
- Stewardship: practical guidance favors durable surfaces, local rules, respectful wildlife distance, and leaving places as found.
